Our Spanish courses take place in the mornings, from 8h30 to 13h15, Monday to Friday. The first timeslot runs from 8h30 until 10h45 and the second runs from 11h00 until 13h15. The school will confirm your final timetable on the weekend prior to the start of your course.

After the Spanish lessons, the surf school’s van picks up students for surfing (optional activity). The duration of the surf session can vary depending on the surf spot chosen, which is determined by wind and tide conditions as well as the group’s skill level.

Additionally, to meet the required hours for Bildungsurlaub (BU) program, Spanish guided support sessions take place Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 19h00 to 20h30. After the evening sessions, our students usually get together spontaneously, hang out, and enjoy dining out in town, where you’ll find fresh fish, tapas, pizzas, salads, and much more!

Water sports activities are completely optional, every student is more than welcome to attend the Spanish classes without booking any water activities.

The majority of our students are solo travelers looking for a personal and fun experience. The average age is about 30, with most students between 20 and 45. We are an adult-oriented school with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

There’s always a great vibe at Spanish & Surf. Day-to-day life is easygoing: after classes, students often hang out together, go out for meals in town, and share experiences.

We take very seriously the time and money our students invest in their learning. When you begin the booking process, we’ll send you a link to a Spanish level quiz. This allows us to create homogeneous groups objectively and ensures the quality of our teaching.

We are aware that a quiz result may not always fully reflect a student’s actual skills. For this reason, every Monday the coordinator and teachers review how students are progressing in their groups and make any necessary adjustments to ensure each student is placed in the most suitable group.

You’ll need to book your flight tickets on your own.

For your reference, Fuerteventura has only one airport (FUE). Many airlines offer direct or connecting flights from major European cities.

You can choose your own check-in and check-out dates at Casa Carmen (subject to availability), depending on what works best for you. Considering the Spanish courses run Monday through Friday, most students usually arrive on the weekend before the course and depart on the weekend after.

Meals are not included. However, you’ll have access to a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own meals, including breakfast. A supermarket with a wide selection of groceries at local prices is just a one-minute walk away.

You don’t need to bring anything special for the course, we’ll provide all the materials you need for your Spanish classes.

For your stay at Casa Carmen, bath towels and bed linen are also included, so no need to pack those either. Beach towels are not serviced. However, you can easily purchase one at a local shop for a small amount if you prefer not to pack one in your suitcase.

For the water activities, the surf school will provide you all surf gear needed, including a 3.2 mm wetsuit, which is more than enough to keep you warm and comfortable while surfing or kitesurfing.

Fuerteventura has mild temperatures all year round but it can be windy, and a bit “cold” in the evenings.

✅ Our recommendation: bring a good windbreaker and a warm sweater, with those two items, you’ll be perfectly equipped for the island 😊

From our experience, combining Spanish and surfing is fun but also quite demanding. 

For a one-week stay, 3 surfing days is a reasonable amount. Our advice: try it out during the first few surf sessions and see how it feels. If you’re comfortable and want more, you can add extra sessions on the spot — always at the lowest price guaranteed.

Surfing conditions are ideal from September to March, when the trade winds (Alisio) are calmer, and the swells consistently hit the island, providing some of the best surfing conditions of the year.

However, for beginner and intermediate surfers, spring and summer are also excellent times to visit. During these months, the wind swells on the east coast create favorable conditions, and you can enjoy some of the island’s most breathtaking natural beaches.

There are surf spots within walking distance of our student residence, suitable for different levels and without needing a car: Punta Elena (Rocky Point), El Muelle, and Lobos island.

That said, surf conditions in Fuerteventura can change quickly—strong winds, varying swell sizes, and different swell directions all affect which spots are good on any given day. For this reason, renting a car is highly recommended if you want to reach the best conditions.

If you prefer not to rent a car, or if you’d like to be guided to the most suitable surf spots based on the weather conditions and your skill level, you can join the surf-guided sessions with our partner surf school. They run daily surf van shuttles, giving you the chance to surf at different locations across the north of the island while discovering some of Fuerteventura’s most beautiful hidden spots.

For car rental, Cicar is by far the most reliable and fair option. Their prices include full comprehensive insurance, with no hidden fees.

For your convenience, they have pickup locations at both at Corralejo ferry terminal and Fuerteventura airport.

There is an affordable and conveniently located laundromat just around the corner from our accommodation, Casa Carmen.

Alternatively, for a more eco-friendly option, you can wash your clothes there and hang them to dry on the rooftop at Casa Carmen.
